Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, posted a series of tweets on September 5 and 6, 2025, addressing topics ranging from social media trends to public safety and land ownership in Michigan.

On September 5, Maddock commented on the shifting landscape of social media platforms. He wrote, "FB is the new MySpace." (September 5, 2025). Later that day, he questioned state land acquisitions with the post: "How much more MI land should gov buy?" (September 5, 2025).

The following day, Maddock turned his attention to crime statistics in Detroit. He stated: "Historically, Detroit is between 250-300 murders a year. Half the criminals never show up in court because Detroit is a Zero Bail city." (September 6, 2025).

Detroit has long faced challenges related to violent crime rates. In recent years, annual homicide numbers have fluctuated within the range cited by Maddock. The issue of bail reform and its impact on pretrial release policies has been debated both locally and nationally.

Maddock represents Michigan's interests as a member of the state legislature and frequently comments on issues concerning public policy and community well-being.
