Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, posted a series of tweets on September 6, 2025, criticizing the state's budget and tax policies proposed by the Michigan Democratic Party.

In his first tweet, Maddock stated: "Translation: @MichiganDems budget is going to raise our taxes 3 billion from anything they can find of yours. That’s another $750 a year to you." (September 6, 2025).

Later that day, he continued his criticism with another post: "We find a new scam to steal tax dollars every day." (September 6, 2025).

In a third tweet, Maddock referenced Governor Gretchen Whitmer's job creation promises: "Whitmer said she’d have 2 million by 2026" (September 6, 2025).

The Michigan state budget process often involves debate over taxation and spending priorities. In recent years, discussions have centered on how increased revenues should be allocated and whether proposed tax changes would impact residents’ finances. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has previously outlined economic goals for the state, including job creation targets.
