Matt Maddock, a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, posted several statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account on August 13, 2025. The tweets addressed topics including government authenticity, hiring practices, and fiscal policy.

In a post from August 13, 2025 at 19:01 UTC, Maddock wrote: "100% true. They are 100% fake."

Later that day at 23:19 UTC, he commented on Democratic policies regarding government employment: "Translation: Democrats want to hire another 5,000 gov employees making 120k a year to raise your kids."

At 23:24 UTC the same day, Maddock posted another statement referencing government spending and international financial flows: "Fact Check: I’ve doubled gov spending, utility rates and auto insurance in 8 years and I want to keep US Dollars flowing to Chyna communists."

Maddock has been an outspoken critic of increased government spending and has frequently used social media to voice concerns about fiscal responsibility and foreign policy. As a Republican representative for Michigan's District 51 since January 2019, he has often opposed Democratic proposals related to expanding public sector employment or increasing state expenditures.

His comments reflect ongoing debates in Michigan and nationally over the size of government workforces and the impact of state-level economic decisions. The reference to "Chyna communists" is consistent with rhetoric seen among some U.S. politicians expressing concern about economic ties between the United States and China.
