In addition to the assistance they have given to those affected by the economic crisis created by COVID-19, Grace Centers of Hope is still gearing up to serve even more of those in need during the upcoming holiday season.

Pastor Kent Clark, CEO of Grace Centers of Hope, recently spoke on WJR’s "The Frank Beckmann Show" with temporary host Chris Renwick about their involvement with the WJR Cares Campaign and the $2.05 Meal Program.

As the holiday season approaches, the work that Grace Centers of Hope has to do is on the rise, Clark told Renwick.

According to their website, Grace Centers of Hope “is one of the largest faith-based, long-term life skills programs for those afflicted by homelessness, addiction and abuse in southeast Michigan.” All their work is done without any government funding.

“We served 189,600 meals last year, and I think we’re going to top that this year," Clark told Renwick.

With that likely increased need, Clark said that Grace Centers of Hope is once again reaching out to the community to ask them to sponsor at least one $2.05 meal ticket.

“That will provide one person just a great, nutritious meal,” Clark told Renwick. “We say, the first step when you get to Grace Centers is to have that good, hot meal.”

Renwick reminded listeners that donations can be made either at WJR or at Grace Centers of Hope to make a donation to the program.

Clark said that Grace Centers has a proven track record for helping those who come to them.

“We’re taking the homeless -- due to, primarily, drug abuse -- to home ownership in just, actually, in three or four years,” he told Renwick. “And we receive no government funding. It’s the American people giving back and helping Grace Centers to do what we do, and we have tremendous success in seeing those things happen.”
