Explore Oxford’s new resiliency center!
Beginning Monday, Aug. 15, the public is invited to tour the All for Oxford Resiliency Center and meet its staff as part of a three-week “Listen & Learn Opening.” During this period, folks can visit the center on Mondays and Wednesdays (3-6 p.m.) and on Thursdays and Fridays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
According to Resiliency Center Director Jamie Ayers, the purpose of the “Listen & Learn Opening” is to garner as much public input as possible.
“We want to hear from the community because this is for them. This is community-led,” she said. “What do you want to see? What do you need? Do you want us to have an art class? What kind of support groups do you want? Let us know what you want and where the gaps are.”
Following the soft opening, the All for Oxford Resiliency Center plans to begin offering services on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Services include individual and family therapy, support groups, therapy dogs, victim advocacy support and community activities.
Established in response to the Nov. 30, 2021 tragedy at Oxford High School, the All for Oxford Resiliency Center is devoted to promoting mental and emotional wellbeing by providing opportunities for people to come together, find support, restore the community’s sense of safety and security, and help each other heal.
Managed by Common Ground, the center’s goal is to create a welcoming place where people feel comfortable connecting with others, while finding appropriate services and resources to assist in the healing process.
All for Oxford is located at 1370 S. Lapeer Rd. in the Oxford Mills shopping center.
