WASHINGTON—Today, Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) and Chairman James Comer announced that the Committee on Oversight and Accountability has issued a notice of investigation to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The investigation concerns alleged interference by Biden-Harris Administration officials to eliminate age recommendations for pediatric gender reassignment surgeries.
“Removing age recommendations for gender reassignment surgery isn’t just biologically questionable, it's outright repulsive,” said McClain. “Chairman Comer and I will leave no stone unturned as we get to the bottom of this troubling report. The Biden-Harris Administration’s shameless pressure campaign to please the radical left is placing our children in harm's way.”
In July 2024, Rep. McClain opened a probe into allegations of fraudulent billing of pediatric gender transition care by medical providers to Medicaid programs.
