Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) announced today that the City of Richmond, Michigan will receive $943,000 for the Main Street Water Main Replacement Project through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“It is a privilege to fight for communities like Richmond every day in Washington, and I am pleased to help bring home significant funding for the city to improve their water infrastructure,” said McClain. “This project will revitalize Richmond’s water mains, provide clean drinking water, and secure the longevity of the city's infrastructure for decades to come.”

“The federal funding provided by Congresswoman Lisa McClain will provide much-needed resources to replace a water main underneath Main Street that dates back to 1916,” said Jon Moore, Richmond City Manager. “Her support is crucial in being able to upgrade our infrastructure while minimizing the disruption to the public.”

The funding for the project was secured in the FY 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act and will assist the city in replacing the water main under M-19, which has a history of breaks.

The funding was awarded from the EPA’s STAG – Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. In FY 2023, Congress appropriated 715 water infrastructure projects totaling $1.47 billion.
