Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) has expressed her support following the U.S. House's approval of the Laken Riley Act. The legislation mandates Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to issue detainers and take custody of undocumented immigrants involved in theft, burglary, larceny, and shoplifting offenses. Additionally, it allows state governments to seek injunctive relief if immigration enforcement decisions negatively impact them or their residents.

McClain stated, "Within one week of this Congress, House Republicans have already passed a law to deport the next Jose Ibarra. He should have never been in the country, and he needed to be removed a lot sooner." She emphasized that the bill aims to enhance community safety and prevent incidents similar to those involving Laken Riley. McClain also acknowledged Rep. Mike Collins for his leadership on this initiative.
