Chairwoman Lisa McClain, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan's 9th district since 2021, has expressed concerns over the safety of Jewish students on college campuses through a series of tweets. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently residing in Bruce, McClain graduated from Northwood University with a BBA in 1997.

On May 7, 2025, at 14:31 UTC, McClain tweeted "College presidents are failing." She emphasized that "Jewish students should feel safe on any campus in this country," highlighting her stance on the responsibility of educational institutions to ensure student safety.

Later that day at 19:03 UTC, she criticized DePaul University for its delayed response to an antisemitic encampment on campus. In her tweet "It took SEVENTEEN DAYS for DePaul to remove its antisemitic encampment.", she accused the university of knowingly ignoring policies that protect Jewish student safety and dismissed their apologies as insincere.

Lisa McClain continues to advocate for safer environments for Jewish students across American campuses.
