Chairwoman Lisa McClain, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 9th district, recently shared a series of tweets commemorating significant historical events and legislative actions. McClain, who succeeded Paul Mitchell in 2021, used her platform to reflect on past sacrifices and current political developments.
On May 8, 2025, McClain tweeted "Duty called, and the greatest generation answered. Today, we honor their victory." This message highlights her recognition of the contributions made by those who served during World War II.
Later that day, she posted another tweet stating "Eighty years ago today, the Axis forces surrendered, and freedom stood victorious worldwide. We can never repay the brave men and women for their heroism during WW2, but we can honor their sacrifices forever." This reflects on the historic significance of Victory in Europe Day and acknowledges the enduring impact of veterans' sacrifices.
In a subsequent tweet at 13:23 UTC on May 8th, McClain discussed legislative matters: "This is the @HouseGOP’s first vote to codify one of @POTUS’ Executive Orders. The American people are footing the bill to protect and secure the Gulf of America’s maritime waterways so that commerce can be conducted. It’s only right that the Gulf is named appropriately." Here she addresses an initiative by House Republicans concerning maritime security legislation.
Lisa McClain was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and resides in Bruce. She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1997.
