Chairwoman Lisa McClain, representing Michigan’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, has recently voiced her concerns and support on various issues through social media posts. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan, in 1966 and currently residing in Bruce, McClain is a graduate of Northwood University with a BBA degree.
On May 9, 2025, McClain expressed her disapproval regarding the handling of antisemitism at colleges beyond Ivy League institutions. She stated: "Another day, another college FAILING to combat antisemitism on their campus. This hatred is BEYOND the Ivies."
Later that day, she commended President Biden for his efforts in securing a new trade agreement with the United Kingdom. McClain remarked: "ICYMI I applaud @POTUS for continuing to deliver new opportunities for growth and prosperity for Michiganders and all Americans. The trade deal with the U.K. is HISTORIC! "
Additionally, McClain addressed environmental concerns related to invasive species affecting the Great Lakes region. She appreciated President Biden's actions on this front by stating: "Invasive species like Asian Carp present a serious danger to the Great Lakes. I appreciate @POTUS taking action to protect one of our greatest natural resources that has such an important impact on our communities and economy."
