Chairwoman Lisa McClain urges Senate action on One Big Beautiful Bill Act

Chairwoman Lisa McClain, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan's 9th district since 2021, has recently taken to social media to express her views on border security and taxation issues. In a series of tweets dated June 2, 2025, she emphasized the necessity for legislative action through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

On June 2, McClain stated that "Biden opened our borders, and millions of illegal aliens took advantage." She further raised concerns about "gotaways" in communities potentially plotting attacks. McClain urged the Senate to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act as soon as possible to support law enforcement efforts.

Later that day, McClain appeared on CNN's "The Situation Room," where she discussed the importance of passing the same bill. According to her tweet at 16:38 UTC, "It would PREVENT: - A $2,400 tax increase on the average Michigander." Additionally, it aims to protect approximately 700,000 small businesses in Michigan from increased tax rates.

In another post at 16:57 UTC on June 2nd, McClain announced her upcoming appearance on Bloomberg TV's "Balance of Power." She reiterated her call for urgent Senate action by stating "We don’t have time to waste."

Lisa McClain was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1997.
