House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain joined General Motors (GM) to announce a significant investment in American auto manufacturing. GM plans to start production of gas-powered full-size SUVs and light-duty pickup trucks at the Orion Assembly Plant by early 2027. This initiative is part of GM's $4 billion investment across three U.S. facilities, including the plant located in McClain’s congressional district.

The move aligns with recent economic policies under the Trump administration aimed at revitalizing U.S. manufacturing and restoring its global leadership status.

Chairwoman McClain stated, “More jobs, more investment, and more pride in American manufacturing. This investment is a game-changer for our district and a big win for hard-working Michiganders.” She emphasized that this development reflects the success of current national policies: “For months, we have said the President’s efforts would pay off and more companies would invest in America again. Putting our country first, for the first time in years, is working. This investment is proof. I’m proud to have helped deliver this major win for our community.”
