Michigan State Representative Matt Maddock has recently taken to social media to express his views on government transparency, environmental policies, and energy infrastructure in the state. Through a series of posts made on July 10 and 11, 2025, Maddock commented on legislative actions, the use of tax dollars for green initiatives, and the status of solar energy development in Michigan.
On July 10, 2025, Maddock stated: "JSYK Republicans in the State House passed FOIA transparency laws and @GovWhitmer refused to sign them." In this post, he referenced efforts by Republican lawmakers in Michigan’s State House to advance Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) transparency legislation. According to Maddock's tweet, Governor Gretchen Whitmer did not sign these measures into law.
Later that evening on July 11, 2025, Maddock posted: "This is how the communist party amasses tax dollars. All in the name of green scam and save the planet". Here he criticized what he described as financial practices related to environmental programs and suggested skepticism about their stated goals.
In a subsequent tweet also from July 11, Maddock discussed agricultural land use and renewable energy projects: "St. Clair County has some of the most valuable and fertile soil in the state. Michigan is almost dead last for solar. Energy companies make 90% of their profits on building new infrastructure solar scams." He pointed out both the agricultural value of St. Clair County and his concerns regarding profitability motives within energy companies focusing on new solar infrastructure.
