U.S. Congresswoman Lisa McClain, representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on social media between July 15 and July 16, 2025, addressing issues ranging from international relations to campus safety and legislative initiatives.
On July 15, McClain criticized potential actions by Ireland regarding Israel, stating: "Any legislation boycotting, divesting, or sanctioning Israel would be a huge mistake for Ireland. This type of extreme antisemitic hate is unacceptable and should be rejected."
The following day, she commented on the leadership at the University of California, Berkeley: "‘A fine scholar’?! THIS is what the President of @UCBerkeley thinks of faculty members who publicly support the October 7th terrorist attacks. He has failed and is UNWILLING to protect Jewish students on his campus. He should resign immediately." The tweet referenced recent controversies involving university faculty and administration responses to political events.
Later that same day, McClain highlighted her participation in a House GOP press conference with Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis: "It was great to have @PatronisFL and his constituents at the @HouseGOP leadership press conference to share the positive impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill!"
Lisa McClain has served in Congress since succeeding Paul Mitchell in 2021. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently residing in Bruce, she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University in 1997.
