Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, made several posts on July 16, 2025, expressing concerns about communism in the United States and referencing former President Donald Trump. In his tweets, Maddock commented on political strategies and media consumption.

In a post published at 03:02 UTC, Maddock wrote: "He’s describing the Cloward–Piven communist strategy playing out while most politicians are still sleeping. So thankful Trump is going after the communists."

Later that day, at 14:19 UTC, he warned about potential violence from communists as political dynamics shift: "The communists will get violent as they are crushed. Dont underestimate them. Watch your back."

At 16:31 UTC, Maddock referenced National Public Radio (NPR) in another tweet: "The only thing I tune into @NPR for is to see what the communists are up to".

Matt Maddock has been an outspoken figure in Michigan politics and has previously voiced support for Donald Trump. The Cloward–Piven strategy mentioned in his first tweet refers to a political theory developed by sociologists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven in the 1960s, which advocates overloading government welfare systems to precipitate policy change.
