Michigan State Representative Matt Maddock posted a series of tweets on July 19, 2025, criticizing communism and referencing the Cloward-Piven strategy.

In his first tweet, Maddock warned about potential violence, stating, "Watch your back. Communists get very violent as they are crushed." This was followed by another post targeting Canadian leadership: "Communists running Canada don’t care about their ppl. They know exactly what they are doing and are crushing their people intentionally. It’s their Cloward-Piven plan."

Maddock continued in a third tweet, linking the Cloward-Piven strategy to systemic collapse: "Cloward-Piven is the tool the communist use to crush systems so the statists can come out and rebuild what they destroyed with communism".

The Cloward-Piven strategy refers to a political theory developed in the 1960s by sociologists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. The theory proposed overloading government welfare programs to precipitate a crisis that could lead to policy changes.

Matt Maddock serves as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives and has previously made statements critical of left-wing policies and governments.
