Chairwoman Lisa McClain highlights trade deal, honors veteran and mourns NYPD officer

Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, posted a series of messages on her official Twitter account in late July 2025 highlighting national policy achievements, honoring local veterans, and responding to a tragedy involving law enforcement.

On July 27, McClain praised the Biden administration for its recent international trade negotiations, stating: "Another historic trade deal negotiated by @POTUS! Americans continue to WIN thanks to this @WhiteHouse."

The following day, July 28, she recognized a local military veteran from her district: "This month, I am honored to recognize Sergeant Richard Loughran as the MI-09 Veteran of the Month. A resident of Lake Orion, Michigan, Sgt. Loughran enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after he graduated from high school at just 17 years old. After graduating from basic"

On July 29, McClain responded to an incident involving law enforcement in New York City: "I’m praying for the victims of this senseless attack and their families. This brave NYPD officer died a hero, putting himself in harm’s way to save others. God bless our courageous first responders."

McClain has represented Michigan's 9th District since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021. She was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. McClain earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University in 1997.
