Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, announced a series of upcoming events and legislative priorities in a series of tweets on July 31, 2025.
In her first post, McClain stated, "Next week, as part of my Big Beautiful Tour, I’m teaming up with @CongressmanKean, @RepBresnahan, and @RepMackenzie to visit manufacturing facilities in their districts. We’ll hear directly from workers and small business owners about why they are excited for the One Big" (July 31, 2025). The tweet highlights her plan to collaborate with fellow representatives to connect with constituents involved in manufacturing.
Later that day, she addressed government spending and monetary policy: "It takes four cents to make one cent, which makes NO SENSE. It’s time for America to modernize its monetary systems and reduce wasteful spending. Ending penny production? Now that’s common cents! Read my op-ed with @RepFrankLucas " (July 31, 2025). This tweet advocates for ending penny production due to its cost inefficiency.
McClain also promoted recent legislative achievements in another post: "The One Big Beautiful Bill is overflowing with wins for the American people. Be sure to follow my Big Beautiful Tour as my colleagues and I bring to life the success stories the bill delivers across America. Americans know it’s going to make their lives GREATER!" (July 31, 2025).
Lisa McClain was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce at age 57. She graduated from Northwood University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Since entering Congress after succeeding Paul Mitchell in 2021, she has represented Michigan's 9th District.
